The Knowledge of Rob Orlando

This weekend CrossFit Central was graced by the visiting of Rob Orlando and the CrossFit Strongman Certification. Many gathered to hear, see, and learn the techniques, methods, and programming behind what is known as, Strongman.

Since the certification there has only been words of excitement and pleasure to have been a part of such an amazing certification. Want to know what Strictly Strength Creator Travis Holley had to say about it? Check out Day 140 and read what Travis had to say about the 1 day event.

Register for THE OPEN

You are an ATHLETE!  Now is not the time to be taking pictures from the sidelines!  The Open is here! This precursor to South Central Regionals and ultimately The 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games begins this Wednesday, February 22nd.  If you have not yet created your athlete profile on the CrossFit Games site—get on it!! Don’t get left behind as your fellow CrossFitters take on The Open worldwide!  Ever wonder how your WOD time compares to someone in Africa, Asia or maybe Germany?  This is your chance to find out where you rank as a CrossFitter internationally and truly experience what The Sport of Fitness is all about.  The affiliate with the most athletes in our region will receive tickets for each of their registered athletes to the South Central Regionals in Houston, TX.  The affiliate with the most athletes registered worldwide will receive tickets to The 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games!

What you should do:

  • Register and create your athlete profile
    **be sure to choose your affiliate either CC, CCATX, RedBlack or CF Trigger Point
  • Complete The Open WODs in your regular class
  • Log your score or time for each WOD on your CrossFit Games Profile
  • Bring your best effort everyday and HAVE FUN!!
    ***this is for all athletes of all levels

What you will receive:

  • a chance to receive tickets to the South Central Regionals & The Reebok CrossFit Games
  • a larger connection with the athlete inside of you
  • interaction, encouragement & competition from the CrossFit community internationally

20 Reps For Heart, Not Time

 

 Many times those involved in the CrossFit world hear the words “for time” on a daily basis. This is because much of the work done by a CrossFitter is as fast as possible. However, the coaches strength workout on Friday mornings lead by Strictly Strength Creator Travis Holley, has a different tune.

 If you want to experience intensity, drop by RedBlack Gym on any given Friday at 9AM. Watch as some of the coaches prep for what is about to become one of the most intense feats they do all week, and guess what, it isn’t for time.

 The 20 Rep Back Squat not only brings one of the most intense hormonal responses, but it brings about a battle. A battle with physical fatigue and even worse, a battle with your mind. The 20 squats are not usual to most, but has become a common occurrence and does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon at RedBlack Gym. The coaches increase weight each week and have not failed to get stronger and stronger each time.
